  • Cuba 1

1st of many photos that I took in Cuba over the last 3 weeks. Having managed to reduce the shutter life of the E-M1 by 10%(!), I now have a massive processing task ahead of me!

This is a typical street scene in Old Havana, very harsh sun with 30+ degrees of heat and high humidity at noon, the worst conditions to shoot in. An unusually cloudy day, which ended with a short, but very heavy rain storm. This scene is repeated endlessly around the Old City with different cars, cameos of street life and varying degrees of urban decay. In short a photographer's paradise!

I'm intrigued by that first car - what does it say on the bonnet? It has a Cadillac V....but a Caddy it ain't!

I guess now that the US has finally seen sense and cosied up to Cuba, things will change before long. Such places are getting harder to find. You'll have to show us some more.

That's a fantastic down the (narrow) street shot. I like the look you've achieved.

Nothing in Cuba is quite what it seems! The name on the front of the car reads "Desoto" (a Fireflight, maybe?). Many of the American cars now have Chinese diesel engines, gearboxes and who knows what else! Some of them even have brakes that work!

I really like this pic - the colours work so well and, as has been said, the country may well change rapidly. so you have visited at the right time.

              Regards.

Lovely detailed shot and great pastel but bright colours. Really conveys an atmosphere I can associate with Cuba. Yes a request to see more from me too.
