Re: Fiona McLeod has Left the Building

Fiona Macleod was the pseudonym of the writer William Sharp:

One of his poems - 'The Immortal Hour' was made into an opera by the British composer Rutland Boughton:

Never heard of him? Well, you ought to have - his opera still holds the World Record for the greatest number of consecutive performances of a serious opera. It's one of my favourites.

Another claim to fame is that he started the original Glasonbury music festivals:

"In addition to his compositions, Boughton is remembered for his attempt to create an "English Bayreuth" at Glastonbury, establishing the first series of Glastonbury Festivals. They ran with enormous success from 1914 until 1926."

I suppose they're jumping on the non meat eating bandwagon to further their business profile with the hipster veg munching wedding crowd.

Re: Fiona McLeod has Left the Building

On touring Scotland, Dunvegan was the only place I didn't photograph. At the gate a bonnie lassie in the ticket box ripped us off! ... Well I guess the maintenance cost of a castle must be pretty high.
