  • The PM screenshot that the constant 'timing out' prevented me from posting above

Click image for larger version Name:	pm.png Views:	0 Size:	37.5 KB ID:	769099

EDIT: The above image displays OK for me, but that may be just because I have it in cache, because checking on another device all I see is the image title 'pm.png'

I've spent enough time on this today, so will look at it again later.

I'm trying to reproduce the problem.

Can you explain a bit more precisely what happens?

      • It only occurs using a small screen (think my phone's 5.25") device, and using the middle (recent) Message tab at the top (displays OK using message centre), after about 20 lines the messages display between 1 and 6 characters per line.

OK - which phone model do you have?

      • Moto G5s

I'll try logging in on another family member's phone

EDIT: Tried on a Moto G6 that I've never logged in on before and it displays PMs exactly the same

P.S. This is from my phone incase above image not displaying correctly

I have the Moto E4+. I've never accessed the forum via phone before till a few mins ago and I'm very impressed with the smooth way the forum appears and operates on it. It's as good as my laptop or better. I don't have any PM's to compare or try though so not much help in this scenario. Good luck !

Edit: Just tested a long cut and pasted PM and it seems fine. The Moto E4+ has a 5" x 2.75" screen.

      • Looks great Ian, really appreciate all the hard work and time you've put into this.

        • Really miss the list of people who have liked a post. The tiny "Like" number in the bottom right showing how many likes a post gets is easily missed. There is also no way to say Thanks.
Not sure if it's just me but seeing the names of who likes a post makes a big difference and makes it a little more personal.

I know its early days and different but hope we don't lose the interactivity the previous forum enjoyed.

Maybe we should be writing something instead. I know one person that stopped posting here because she only got Likes & Thanks without comments (I'm just as guilty of not writing a comment).

Understood. I have a solution coming. 👍 But you can already see who liked by clicking on the number of likes.

            Thanks. (Will this do?)

        • Had a quick look and couldn’t see anything: on the ‘Forum Home’ tab, or I guess anywhere else, where you have the thread title and below it, the thread starter, it’s far too easy (for my sausage fingers at least) to accidentally ‘click’ on the name rather than the thread title. Never an issue before.

By 'thread starter' do you mean the first post in the thread?

        • Ian having successfully managed to post my first image I was just curious as to what happens to the posted images in this new forum? It said send to server so presumably they are stored somewhere that has a limited memory allocation? if so how much storage is there and how do we know when it's full?

Good question Gold star for you! If your image exceeds the 1600x1600 pixels limit it will be resized to fit and this is what is displayed if you use 'Fullsize'. The other sizes are progressively smaller. The original uploaded file, if it is resized, is not saved. At present, everyone has a 500MB quota. I will increase this as necessary. The server does not have infinite storage and in fact server backups are charged by the megabyte, so I may have to ask members to be careful with their use of the image attachment facility.

Thanks Ian I guess this is info you will put in a reference section somewhere in due course. I presume this comment will end up below yours when I've posted it let's see. It is interesting I didn't actually notice you had replied except by accident, there was no actual notification of your comment unless I missed it. It was only as i was exploring (playing around really) and by setting the filter on the notification window to "both" that it told me you had commented. I'm sure there wasn't a notification number on the top of the home page as there had been for some other replies. I assume any comment on any of my posts should show up as a notification number at the top of the forum is that correct? Actually now I'm wondering if by commenting on my own post after your comment you will actually get a notification? maybe I'll get it? ....pretty complex this new forum I'm glad I'm not sorting it out good luck, you are doing a great job.

        • With it being so much easier now to post images, I will be more inclined to do so now.

Raises another issue, how do I quote / reply to your comment Ian? But to answer your question, yes, I guess. For example the 2nd post says its ‘Hello’ by Greg (picked a short one!) and it’s far too easy when clicking (iPad, main device for forum) “Hello” to actually click on the ‘Greg’ bit and not get what you wanted (no disrespect Greg!)

You should be seeing three dots on a smart device like an iPad:

Yes I am with you here Dave, but I think Ian is working on that request. I use those names when I do the Challenge count, but I have carried out a mock count, and just writing down names and their number of votes is really just as quick, slightly more open to error though....

                    • Using " Forum Home" and "Recent Threads" this lists the latest posts made in the various threads within the forum. I've just noticed it seems to exclude replies to posts made in "The Lounge". Is this intentional or am I missing something ?
