  • Ian,

This may well have been flagged up but I am prepared to do only so much reading through!

In the old forum I had it so that whenever I opened up a topic from the index I would get the latest reply. Now I get the oldest.

In some parts of the forum there is a filter for ascending or descending but that seems not to affect individual topics.

I think we need to be clear whether we're talking about the list of posts in a thread or the list of threads in a board. If it's the list of posts in a thread (discusssion - I believe vBulletin they now call this a 'topic') you can use the Latest Activity tab (next to the Posts tab). This places the most recent posts at the top. Does that help? I know it's different - hopefully we will get used to it.

Yes but that is not available in strings and opting higher up does not work for the strings.

Not quite sure what you mean by 'strings'?

    • Apols if this has been pointed out already - on the Forum Home page the list of posts appears to default to "Recent threads". I don't see any updates to Foto Fair under there. I thought things had been quiet! Eventually I found them "Today's posts" (along with updates in The Lounge, which I wasn't surprised not to see anyway).

I'm not particularly upset now that I've found it, but it seems odd. And is there any possibility of extending Today's posts to optionally allow searching over a longer time period?

        • Bikie John Recent Threads on the Forum Home shows the recently posted and active threads on most of the forum. Foto Fair is in a narrower column to the right. I wonder if you are viewing on a tablet or smartphone - in which case you may need to scroll down further to see the top of Foto Fair under the last Recent Threads entry.

The reason Foto Fair was separated a long time ago was that Foto Fair activity was being crowded out by other discusssions, so we made it its own place alongside (on a desktop browser view) on the Forum Home page.

If that's not what you mean I will need more help

          • Ah - user error! I am using a big desktop screen - and completely failed to notice that Foto Fair had its own column on the right! Thanks for pointing it out.

Wow - I never knew! Always used to just go to "New posts since....".

          • Any ideas as to why my "Filter" tab only gives the options of Time and Show ? The screenshot Ian posted has "Sort By" and "Order" options......... mine doesn't

The more comprehensive filter is for lists of threads in specific boards, like Foto Fair. The smaller options are in the list of individual posts in a thread. To change the order use the Latest Activity tab and the most recent posts will appear first. It's different to before - sorry about that, but that's how the new software works now.

            Thanks for clarifying that Ian

            • Cant Copy and Paste from Flickr as before, just comes with "invalid image file", any clues as to why and how to please.

How do you do it? I go to share, BBCode, then copy the BBCode link and paste into the forum post editor here:

                  • I think I am getting the hang of the new forum and things are settling down.

One thing I used to be able to do was to mark all posts in a thread as read - can't find a way to do that, is it possible?

There is a "Mark Channels Read" tab at the bottom of the Forum Index, middle of the page, just after the last forum. Not sure if that's what you're looking for though

                        • Ian here - posting in a test account.

Avatars can now be larger (250x250 pixels max). There is no need size your avatar before uploading.
