  • Bill Gordon RIP

I've just learned from his daughter that Bill died last night in Toronto. He died at a grand old age, and had been suffering from dementia for some years.

He was a member of this user group and posted over 800 photos. He visited the UK regularly and joined other Forum members on walkabouts in London.

I first met him when we saw each other using the then very new E10 at the British Museum, and got chatting.

    RIP Bill.

So sorry to hear this sad news, but thank you Jeremy for passing it on. I, too, was fortunate to meet Bill on several occasions; he was a character who loved to visit this country and a real gentleman. Here he is, enjoying a short walk in Epping Forest before we went for a pub lunch.

This is sad news - Bill was a prolific member of the E-group and visited the UK, attending a meet with several other members, a few years back. He was a great character and a thoroughly nice man.

I would guess he must have been one of our oldest members as well.

He certainly enjoyed his pint of ale - as Ian says he was a nice man.

I didn't have the pleasure of meeting Bill in person as I missed the meet up in London but did have the pleasure of exchanges through the forum. He came over as a true gent, rest in peace Bill and best wishes to your family.

                      RIP Bill
I remember him well. I spent some time talking to him at the meet-up in 2012. I remember he was ill at the end of that trip and spent some time in hospital here which delayed his return home.

Yes, I remember that, too - but he recovered and that was seven years ago. It was worrying at the time though!

If I remember correctly that was the occasion of the Thames River Walk when it turned bitterly cold towards the evening and Bill got very chilled down. I'm very sorry to hear of his passing, he was a very pleasant chap.

Bill's daughter, Jeanne, has just asked me if any of you with photos of Bill would be kind enough to email them to her - for her personal use only, of course. Please PM me for her email.
                      Thanks.

Jeremy, it may be a good idea to delete the e-mail address and get anyone interested to PM you. The forum is visible to anyone, not just members.

May I download your photo, please, so I can send it to Bill's daughter? She would appreciate it.
