  • Nearing the end of autumn

It's been a really good autumn after a dismal summer, and it just seems to be going on and on.

This is the edge of the Cheviots in Coquetdale.

John, WoW what framing I LURVE the trees across the bottom and those two trees above with magnificant shadows WoW and then ... the leading lines off left and right take me walking across this Cheviot

I think I may lose the top third of sky but it could be a great print for X stitch

You're right about the sky I think, here it's cropped and sky darkened a bit for contrast

John I reckon your second version is just about right.
Can you keep the landscape like this for when we pass through on the 20th December?
        Snow permitting.

Cheers Seonnaidh. I can't promise, they're liable to chop those conifer stands down any time. They're an eyesore for years when they're clear felled . Whereabouts are you headed?

Going to see the Mother-out-law and the kids/grandkids for Xmas.
Whereabouts are you if you don't mind me asking?

We live in Morpeth, just off the A1. That scene is 25 miles away up the Coquet valley.

John, sorry if I am being piccy ... but I prefered the colours of the first image the right brown/oranges and greens have "gone" int he second

But it looks better with less sky - I liked the original sky too

Oh yes, I forgot about the tonal adjustments. I tend not to save my adjustments.

edit: Sorted. Except I have a bit less sky now.Oh well.

I think Bill has a good point there.
Constable and Turner certainly spring to mind.
