    Yes I learned of the dreaded Lily Beatle a couple of years ago when I lost several plants to them, I don't know why but some years seem to be better than others for example last year, not one in sight!, yet this year they have reappeared perhaps it depends on the weather conditions.
    Here is one that I shot last year before my dslr purchase (Oly 7070WZ)

    You have (unfortunately) red lily beetles. With global warming we are now being overrun by these non UK beetles. They will breed and shred your lily leaves and, speaking from personal experience, ruin your lilies...

    I had some lovely beetle mating shots last year and was delighted until I read up about them. They are all over the lilies again this year and they are already like lace.

    I don;t use sprays so cannot advise about getting rid. But I would if you value your flowers.

    Lovely picture Neil - Cardinal Beetle, I think. Even if you didn't want it in your garden it makes a great shot, and contrasts beautifully with the greenery!
