  • Social isolation...Goody, let's hike the prices.......

Just receive notification from greedy b******'s Sky, they have upped my subscription by £2.20 per month

Cow-sons, as my Dad would have said.

I had my notification for this about a month ago, before any of this began. They do it every year or two anyway.

I was in the local PC shop buying ink earlier this week. They said that wholesale prices of laptops had shot up overnight, and availability had shot down. Presumably there is an army of people suddenly needing to work from home.

Same here, had the notification a few weeks ago. I have now reduced by membership to just the absolute basic. I really cant the stand the company any more but HWMBO insists we keep it.

they have also just announced that if you have sky sports you can end the contract or suspend it because there are no sports to show you .. seems reasonable if that is one of your options it may be worth exploring

Viewers can now suspend their accounts online for no charge with Sky willing to let viewers retain access to all Sky Sports channels – but BT Sports have not been quite so generous

I find there is more than enough cr@p on Freeview without paying for extra cr@p on Sky.

            How right you are.
So poor that despite all the channels still often struggle to find anything decent to watch

Sadly all these channels dilute the quality since there is only so much talent for making good programmes. Goodness knows what will happen if the BBC is reduced to yet another ad-supported broadcaster which seems to be the Tories' idea. I don't even bother reading what's on the lesser channels in the Radio Times. Most of it is repeats of what was dross in the first place!

Or, as Pink Floyd once put it, "I've got thirteen channels of sh1t on the TV to choose from"

As I don't subscribe to sky (and never have) it won't affect me...as Zuiko has mentioned above there is more than enough 'crap' on freeview and i watch less and less TV now, having bought a new music system I listen rather than watch these days

Virgin also do this and once it got past £100 a month (two phone lines, one of their fastest Internet plans plus a generous TV bundle and set top boxes in two rooms) I decided to negotiate with them and they were able to keep the cost below £100 for a couple of years. I'm now giving up the home phone line as hardly anyone uses it and that will save about £20/month.

Why can't Virgin et al have a reducing tariff for loyal customers ? We have been with them for around 20 years (including Diamond Cable/NTL who they took over). It used to work that way with rental TV's, back in the 60's.

Dewi9 Same here - we had the old analogue cable with NTL and their predecessors.

I generally only have it for Formula 1
There is the occasional good series on Atlantic but by and large I would agree with most peoples sentiments on here.
I find I'm tending to watch more content from Amazon Prime and Netflix these days.

We only have it for my other half to watch F1. If he could find a way to watch it without using sky, he would... specially when we do retire...

My crystal ball was right about that one, for once. I might as well have had Mystic Meg saying “You’ll be working from home for months. I see a monitor and keyboard in your immediate future.”
