  • What Olympus film camera?

OK, I know this is E system forum but out of interest who still owns and uses any Olympus film cameras?

I have an XA2 and XA3 strapped and wired together as stereo camera and a spare XA2 + flash.

Recently bought a Trip 35, all serviced etc and covered in a orange leather covering. Available from Silverprint, who do lots of other coverings including snake skin and pink! Great fun and now I feel like David Bailey.

Still have my faithfull OM2n - about 30 years old and has travelled the world - as well as a second OM2n I was given, an OM20, an AZ200 (excellent for parties as flash is very good) and an ancient Trip. Only a few months ago I put a film through the Trip to see whether the exposure meter was functioning, and to check I bracketed the exposure. But I needn't have bothered; the transparancies (yes) were correctly exposed for the indicated value.
I use the OM2n a lot; it's been on my shoulder today even! The problem is the processing slide film is now very expensive and so I'm looking at digital (I have a Stylus compact) seriously. E620 maybe. I'll still use the OM's for b/w and probably backup with slide film. I'll be very sorry to go out without an OM.
I don't know how many years of camera use mine represent, but it's one reason why I'm looking at an Olympus replacement!

OM4 and OM1 get some use, as does the Trip 35 which produces great results - even if mine isn't orange...

I have a collection of Olympus "35" series from the 70s my all time favourite being the 35RD with its 40mm f1.7 GN Lens - Absolutely Brilliant

My OM4Ti gets through about 4 rolls of slide film each year. I really enjoy using it as the multi spot metering is excellent.

I still have my OM1 and OM2, as well as various ancillaries/lenses.

                    Little used these days

                          Re: What Olympus film camera?

I have an OM1n, 4Ti and 3Ti that still see use. My OM1n was purchased in 1982 and has been all over the place with me. It is like an old friend. I recently had it fully serviced and the power source converted from mercury to silver oxide. I am hoping it will be good to use for another 25 years now (assuming film stays around).

My 4Ti has become my main holiday camera and only gets used for a couple of weeks a year (along with the OM1n).

The 3Ti gets used for hiking and other local stuff. I have 10 Zuiko lenses, most of which see use, although the ones I use the most are the 21mm F2, 35mm F2, 50mm F1.2 and 180mm F2.8.

Since 'rediscovering' my OM's, my E-1, 11-22 and 50 have become almost redundant. The last time I used them was back in May. I just love the OM's and have really got back into projection again.

                          Cheers, Steve.
