  • Corporate Tax Dodging

Entirely separate to the General Election and Brexit the Grauniad reported yesterday that twelve EU states have voted to reject moves to expose corporate tax avoidance.

    Link to Guardian Article.

Unsurprisingly names such as Amazon, Apple, Facebook, Google and Starbucks are mentioned. We know they are all at it, and governments threaten to clamp down on these practices but it isn't as simple as that.

What chance then that our government will be able to fund their promised free-for-alls with taxes collected from these big corporates?

    Very interesting.

What leapt out from the article was:

"Ireland is one of the biggest beneficiaries of the current rules. The country hosts corporate offices that collect revenue and profits generated by many multinational companies across the EU bloc."

So effectively Ireland and other "beneficiaries of the current rules" are parasitic on the other countries!
