  • Thanks a lot Olympus!

I must say thanks to Olympus for the event at Clifton Cameras in Dursley today. There was a very nice and helpful Olympus representative there who had a good collection of cameras and lenses. So now our shopping list includes the XZ-2, m75mm, m60mm and maybe the m12mm! Just a few wishes!

It was worth the one hour bus journey each way just to be able to handle them and judge the feel on the OM-D. I have to say the bokeh on the 75mm was most impressive. We even got to leave with some freebies from Olympus (but sadly that didn't include lenses!).

I was surprised to see the camera shop there and only saw the event announced on Twitter from Olympus UK. The shop was very nice and modern but looks rather out of place on Dursley 'High Street'. However I would consider going back there as their prices seemed reasonable and a real bonus to have a local shop where you can actually get your hands on the kit.

I wonder if it's too late to buy another lotto ticket for tonight!

If anybody has one of these events in their area I'd recommend calling in.

Good for you to take a long bus journey for an event like this.
That's a bit of a pricey new shopping list : I'm guessing your "we" includes Mr.T, in which case you won't have much trouble justifying spending loads.

If we avoid twitter and facebook like the plague : how would we know such an event is happening?

To be fair, a while ago before the current free 45mm lens offer started, the Olympus ad. which runs on the homepage ( which I guess many of us ignore because its always there) was promoting these events. Also if you have registered your kit with the Olympus UK website you should have received the e-mail newsletter which also announced them.

          Regards.

she looked at me and said "It's official. I hate your camera. It's just so amazing and perfect I want one!"

I must admit I didn't see an announcement on here and it would have been good for that to have happened as if Olympus don't find these events worth their while then we all lose out. I like Twitter but I'm a bit more neutral about Facebook, but what a great way for companies to communicate. Plus we found a nice cafe (thankfully there was one) so they also benefited from Olympus!

Yes, there is a Mr T involved in the shopping list, so at least we don't have to justify it to each other! One at a time I think, but a hard choice between the 60 and 75mm I think!

Also interesting was a hardback book that was on display with art filters and other pictures. I don't think this included any of the competition winners from last year's competition, but maybe one day that will see the light of day!

When we go into the city centre we always park near the local station and take the train....dearer than parking but I hate paying for the pleasure of spending money in the city....and treat the train journey as an adventure....
At the shopping complex at Merry Hill (Dudley) it's free parking ...only problem is the shops are scaled down ones...there must be a happy medium somewhere....

Never go on the Home page so will have missed it.

              Peter,

I have to be honest I tend to visit today's posts rather than the home page so may well have missed it.

              Keith,

We try to do Park and Ride whenever we can. A few months ago we swapped our car for a motorhome which adds some extra fun to city centre parking/driving especially when Tom Tom (now sold on eBay) takes you down a narrow dead end!

Although all my kit is registered with Olympus, I have never had any emails from them.
