  • Infra Red Conversion

I am about to acquire an EM1 and that will allow me to consider an infrared conversion for my EM5 ii. The camera works great but the power switch is constantly on so I might get that fixed too. Seems a common issue after using in the rain.

Anyways, has anyone had a MFT camera converted and can point me in the direction of someone to do the work. I'm thinking of just doing mono and going for a 720nm Filter conversion. Any views, tips or help most welcome.

    Re: Infra Red Conversion

I had an an E-PL1 converted but that was 7-8 years ago.

These people did it but their website isn't very specific. They did a good job in my opinion:

      Re: Infra Red Conversion

I brought a pre-converted full spectrum GF2 6 years ago. Been a lot of fun allowing me to try a wide range of IR options.

More recently I have brought a Sony mirrorless & had it converted by Alan Burch (wightman009 on e-bay) for increased UV response. Very impressed with his work. He has a number of MFT cameras he.s converted on sale.

There are quite a lot of industrial infra-red cameras about so presumably someone must produce cameras without the IR filter fitted? These are usually video type cameras but I have seen a couple of FF Canons used too.
