Thank you all very much, I did indeed have focus assist turned on and now it's off

    Focus assist is on.

I have a button set up for zoom focus and pressing this once also turns off the automatic zoom off (puts up the green box showing the zoom area) with a second press entering the zoom focus at the desired zoom level (x5, x7, ...). I find this quicker than diving into the menus.

You may have MF Assist on this will magnify the object in the EVF or screen in manual focusing. Try that Under gears MF/AF I think

It sounds as if you have focus assist set to on x10 when in manual focus, that does as you describe, it enlarges to either x5 x7 or x10 whichever was selected when turning the manual ring, returning to normal when released.

started a topic HELP! Strange Behaviour.

    Strange Behaviour.

There's a beautiful full moon tonight and I thought I'd try my 50-200mm SWD with my newly acquired EC-20 teleconverter mounted on my EM-1 to capture some images.
I mounted the camera and lens on a tripod, turned IBIS off and selected manual focus. However every time I moved the focus ring the image in the EVF became huge and blurred and 10X appeared in the display. I assumed I night have the digital teleconverter set to "ON" but it was off. As a result I could not achieve manual focus and had to switch back to Auto Focus.
This seems very odd and I wonder if anyone can shed light on this strange behaviour?
    Thank
Working...
