  • Sad to see it go..

I've just packed up my E-500 which was my first Olympus and first digital camera for a trade in for £100 on a new gopro device

Their terms said any condition and my camera has survived
    • Our honeymoon (it was what I had instead of a wedding ring, but don't remind the wife)
    • Lots of adventures including mountaineering, caving, wildlife
    • It took the first picture I ever sold which was in a charity wildlife exhibition and the first print sold at the opening night
    • It was retired to being my record camera when working on old cars such as my Landy and therefore taken the bulk of the pictures on my Landy blog
    • It's got muddy, greasy, dropped, the flash does not pop up anymore without aid of a screwdriver to lever it up, but it still turned on when I picked it out of the drawer
I'm still a bit sad to see it go and the E-510 has now (sadly for it) been demoted to the "under the cars with greasy hands camera"

I think after Christmas I'll have a full sort out of my 4/3 kit and there will be some offers on here for the things that are not in such a state

    Regards
    Andy

Surely the 17.5-45 was the worst lens Oly ever produced.

I know the feeling. I'm very reluctant to get rid of camera gear.
          I've still got my Rollei B35 (1975), OM1N (1989) to replace the OM1 (1977) that corroded solid. The OM2 and 10 lenses +T32 flash.
There are also 2 Oly film compacts before we get onto the 2 Oly bridge cameras C-5050 and E-8080, the 4/3 DSLRs (4 of) and M4/3 DSLRs (3 of).
They all still work although god knows what the electricity bill would show charging them all.
Do I have OCD or am I just a hoarder?
Interested to see that they still have a value. Which dealer did you sell to?

            Hi Duncan

This was not to a dealer, but a special offer on a gopro to return a camera in any condition for £100 off before I did that I did take a look at what they were actually selling for on ebay and the only ones selling (i.e. actually had bids on) were less than that, in the £40.00 - £60.00 range at the time)
to me it had some value as a working device for extremely nasty environments e.g. under the Land Rover, but I have a replacement in the E-510 which has the additional benefit that DXO will process the raw files so I felt that the space it freed up on my shelves had additional value
