  • Got myself an E-PL5

Couldn't wait any longer for a PD solution for FT lenses on a MFT Body, so went out today and got an E-PL5.

Mark let me have a play with one at the Murder Mile Studio session, which was what sold me on it...

Pity it don't come with a 45mm lens offer

That's good news, Graham, it means that next week a new body with PD solution will be announced!

I am currently in part exchange limbo with Ffordes, my gear has gone and I am awaiting their appraisal and valuation before they send me my Epl5

      Canny wait

What are your thoughts so far Graham and which RAW convertor will you utilise?

        I wish!

While I've stopped sneeking in new cameras into the house and pretending that they are old ones, if a new one was to be launched I may get away with it by passing it off as the one I've just got

You are going to love it. The 40-150mmR isn't bad either.

I already have the E-PL1 and the original 40-150, which I am very impressed with. I shall be doing some side-by-side comparisons to see which one I can kid myself into thinking is the better lens.

Also the original 14-42 is an ED lens, so that too will need "assessing" against the "R" version.

I have done some comparisons of pictures I have already taken. Problem is JPEG vs RAW, or I have different lenses on. I do know that the E-PL5 with the 14-54 gets better results than the E-PL1 with the 14-42, but not a fair comparison. I do know the E-PL5 is impressive. Be interested in what your comparisons show.

Not sure how much longer I can hold out upgrading my E-PL3.

My heart says yes but my wallet says hold on a bit.
                Regards Paul.

Well, I am delighted with mine, I keep finding new bits in the menu's. still havn't tried it on moving objects ie. like steam trains etc. to see how it compares with the E5 but it makes a big difference weight wise and with the giottos carbon tripod? you just don't no its with you. What I want now is a little brighter weather. I even contactedS.R.B. and got a couple of grad filters.

A friend of mine did that when the E-3 came out and to this day his wife still thinks it is the E-500. He has to remember never to have both cameras together in the presence of his wife!

                      Re: Got myself an E-PL5

I've done a very short "test" series out the front of my house and the difference is very small, with slightly less CA visible on the Mkii lenses.

This really only shows up in the extreme contrast of dark brown vegitation set against the snow.

Also given that the 9-18 is my prefered lens and does 80% of the shots, the two kit lenses are excellent and the perfect compliment for my light weight "walkabout" system.

I'm also VERY impressed with the tiny little flash that comes with the camera and the level of control that you get with it.

I really like the E-PL1 and used it a lot, and while Ian & Mark let me try out the other PENs at various events and meets, I never found them to suit me better. The E-PL5 is a whole new evolution and not only performs but feels right.

SO: Thanks to Mark, for letting me try the E-PL5 at the murder mile studio session.

I wonder what a 60mm Macro would work like on this body...

It's the image that's important, not the tools used to make it.

                            Re: Got myself an E-PL5

Just played with the WiFi LAN Connection using the Toshiba FlashAir card.

It's slower in transferring ORF files than having the card or camera plugged into the PC, but if I were to ever get a shot that needed to be sent off somewhere in a hurry, this capability would work well to get the job done.

Just need to "dial in" the remaining settings to get it to work "MyWay" and in the same way as the E-System.
