  • Half case, yes or no?

I'm tempted to buy a half case for my EP3. Not so much to bling it up, but to protect the bottom of the camera as I seem to be carrying it around on a sling most of the time and am looking for some impact protection which this case http://www.lovecases.co.uk/toma-olym...ase-black.html would provide.

I have a couple of questions.

    1. Has anyone used this and the firm advertising it?
    2. Do you have any comments on the use of this sort of thing for a bit of extra protection?

    Many thanks.

Can't see much benefit from it myself although it does look quite nice. Is there a second half that can be clipped on to make a full case when required?

No it's purely the half case. It is very thick at the base, which given my habit of lugging cameras around on a strap (shoulder or neck) suspended by a side mount and inevitably catching the base and or lens on obstructions, may be a (camera) life saver.

        Update.

I took the plunge and got the case a few days ago. I'm very pleased with the feel of the camera in the case, it makes it much easier to grip without adding very much weight.

Re: Half case, yes or no?

I had the same half case on my E-P3 (now both sold via Ffordes) and found it gave me a better grip on the camera. The only problem I found was that it was difficult to open the battery/memory card hatch on the bottom of the camera even though it did have an access slot for the purpose.

Yes, I used a Gariz half case on my E-M1 and it gave extra lower-camera protection, plus on this version a slightly larger grip which gave your pinkie something to do. It also had a cut-out to access the battery.

I have a Gariz half case fitted to my EP5, it fits like a glove and is very well made. It must offer some protection even though the back and part of the sides are exposed (for good reason of course), but it makes holding the camera so more pleasurable in terms of feel and balance. I got mine from lovecases, chose the company as it's UK based rather than going via eBay for a direct import. Get one I think you'll not regret it.
