  • New E-book on E-M1

I don't know if it's old news to some, but this guy has an e-book out on the E-M1. I have his book on the Fuji X-T1, and it's excellent. Usual disclaimer.

Wow thanks for the heads up on this book. Am I the only one who has not heard of him? Looked at his examples and testimonies seems to good to be true. Tried to order a book but got a not trusted website using IEanyone know whats going on. Used Google Chrome got it ok. Going hiding now while I have read. Another thanks Stephen

ps - some good and bad reviews regarding the Kindle downloadable version - ie lack of an index and drawings etc.

For his X-T1 book, I found it best to view the PDF version. It translates badly to Kindle.

Gary Friedman is principally a Sony user/guru, well known and respected in those circles. I got several of his ebooks when I was using Sony DSLRs, and always learned something useful from them. He's branching out now into ebooks on some other makes/models. such as the Oly EM-1 and Fuji XT-1.

I got his EM-1 book to help me figure out the myriad ways of customising things when I first got the camera, and again, learned some practical stuff, since the actual manual is less than useless. There's also an update available for this book, which covers the 2.0 firmware additions which came along since the original publication - he's also good at doing that, and you get the updates for free.

Not asleep, working too much..... more like lack of sleep!

Moved to Fuji? I never seen that one coming...... does this mean you will be stripped of your Olympus forum moderator status now?

Like Margaret I got Gary's eBooks for Sony (and Minolta!) cameras and they are very good. Definitely go for the PDF and not the Kindle versions. He is a very genuine guy - I bought the Sony A77 book some time ago, and he has given me the A77II (a totally new camera) book for free.

Only £7.99 on Sainsbury's ebooks at the moment, but I think you have to download their app. Anyone know if this is any better than the Kindle versions?

Just checked, apparently you need an internet connection to start the reader. OK when at home but no good in the field.

Decided to buy direct from Gary Friedman's web site because I can then get both the pdf and kindle versions. Cost is $19.95 . http://friedmanarchives.com/OlympusE-M1/

This is a very helpful e-book. I also brought from Gary Friedman's web site and have all the different formats to choose from plus the firmware 2.0 update, but as I have it for my desktop and notebook windows pcs I have the pdf version which is great because I can click to all the links and zoom in on the pictures if needed.

Considering that it is 425 (399 + 26) pages I am surprised how succinctly he deals with cameras settings and what is not more fully covered. All this goes to highlight just how sophisticated the OMD-EM1 camera is.
