Re: Portable Storage (on the move)

I've just bought a Ravpower unit. I've had it a couple of days and it seems quite good so far.

You can plug a SD card and a USB storage device in, then access the device wirelessly with an Android 'phone, and transfer from the card to the storage device. Transferring from a class 10 SD card to a USB, HD the rate of transfer was 1.25MB per second. The device is powered by its internal 6000mAH battery.

The Ravpower app is a bit clunky, but I found it simpler to use the ES File Explorer app.

Please enlighten on that Kingstone 5 in 1 device. From reading the specifications, there is no storage inside. It's just a reader, battery and writer. So it needs a huge Thumbdrive plugin to backup the SD. It can also act as a battery for my device. Plus it's WiFi enabled.

      Yes?

SD cards are so inexpensive now that you could simply keep your photos from the day or whatever period and then save them to your long term storage later.

          Yes!

It will also backup to an external USB HD. I used a 1TB which worked OK.

App on a smartphone connects to hub it has an sd slot and a usb slot into which you can plug a high capacity flash drive (USB 2.0 only I think) and use the phone app transfer from card to drive. Also it will act as Wifi hub when hotel only allows say two device connection and you have four or more.

Tesco have 16gb SanDisk Extreme SD Cards for a tenner - grabbed myself a couple yesterday. That's five I have now for this year's holiday. Plan to rotate them & backup "best" images to tablet memory card via OTG / USB.

Is the offer still on? My Sis is in London, can ask her to check them out.
