The Olympus UK E-System User Group is proud to offer its Olympus camera, lens and accessory hire service in partnership with Olympus UK. The service has been developed to make the bulk of Olympus' Four Thirds and Micro Four Thirds system cameras, lenses and accessories available for hire to members of the public at affordable and competitive prices. We believe our service is unique in the UK. You don't need to be an e-group member, although we recommend it, and we welcome international clients.
Who uses our hire service?
We have regular customers from all walks of life from students and hobbyist photographers to holiday photographers and, of course, professionals - both still photographers and videographers. Our cameras and lenses have been all over the world, from photographing polar bears in the Arctic circle to photographing flora and fauna on safari. One client was in Japan with some of our gear just one day before the tragic Japanese tsunami struck early in 2011.
Olympus, for example, produces a huge array of fantastic lenses. It's impossible for most of us to be able to own all these lenses. Our hire service makes all these lenses, like specialist fish eye, macro and professional-grade super wide angle and high-speed telephoto lenses accessible to all. Hire the top of the range £5,500 Zuiko Digital 300mm f/2.8 for the weekend for just £120 inc.VAT (not including shipping). Or how about the m.Zuiko 60mm f/2.8 Macro for a 3-day hire of under £30 inc.VAT. Some of our most popular lenses are even better value - take the m.Zuiko 75-300 f/4.8-6.7, you can hire one of these for a fortnight and the hire charge is less than £52. Our Four Thirds high grade lenses are especially good value; hire the legendary Zuiko Digital 14-35mm f/2.0 for 10 days and pay only £75.64 inc.VAT (not including shipping). You will also find that the cost per day of hires can reduce significantly the longer the hire period is for.
Booking a hire

By far the best way to arrange a booking is to email us via firstname.lastname@example.org including details of what you are interested in hiring, plus a contact phone number and, importantly, the dates you want to have the gear for hire. The minimum hire period is 3 days and it's important to clarify what the hire days are. We only charge for full days that the gear is required for. For example, if you need to use a lens on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, that is what you will be charged for.
We will get the lens to you the day before the first hire day, which in this example is Monday, and you must send the lens back the day after the final day of the hire, in this case on the Friday. We require you to use a next working day courier service. If required, we can help you choose an appropriate service or even arrange a courier to collect from you. If you are local to us in Hemel Hempstead you can, by arrangement, visit us to collect and return hire gear.
After we have received your enquiry, we will confirm your requirements and draw up a quotation and provide you with an agreement and our terms and conditions. Prior to this you may wish to discuss your requirements and we are very happy to provide technical advice at this stage. It's important to us that you select the most appropriate gear for your needs. If that means recommending a less expensive solution, we won't hesitate to do that.
It's a good idea to reserve the gear you wish to hire well in advance. If we find that we have run out of items that you have reserved we will give you priority and an opportunity to make a firm booking, guaranteeing the equipment will be available to you even if we have a later enquiry for the same item. However, if another client needs the item you have reserved and you are unable to commit to a booking we may have to transfer priority to that client.
Normally, we accept payment via credit or debit card. We are PayPal merchants and use PayPal to accept card payments. If you prefer you can pay using your PayPal account. PayPal transactions (using cards or PayPal account payments) are secure so we can be sure of your identity and you can be sure of ours.
We are insured professionally to operate our hire service. Our insurers do impose an excess on us should there be a loss of any kind. You will be liable to us for the cost of that excess if it is charged, regardless of the situation leading the loss. If the loss is as the result of negligence on your part then you will be liable to our insurers for the entire loss. However, any loss through non-negligent accident or theft will mean you will only be liable for the insurance excess charge. We will require proof of non-negligent loss, like a police report, for example.
We do not normally require a deposit to arrange hires. However, we do require a deposit if you are under 18 years of age or if you intend to bring the hired equipment to a place of recognised danger and high risk, for example to a war zone or other region of bad security.
We aim to minimise the cost of shipping wherever possible. For UK delivery we will either use Royal Mail Special Delivery for packages up to 2kg in weight and Parcel Force for heavier packages. We use an international courier agency for international clients - we will quote a cost based on your location. A small admin fee is added to the basic shipping charge for packaging and other costs. The shipping charge for your order will be detailed in your quotation. Let us know if you need help and advice concerning shipping items back to us. Please note, if you require shipping to a remote region of the UK we may need additional days in order for the items to reach you when you expect them.
During times of poor weather it is advisable to build in extra days to compensate for likely shipping delays. Please also remember we need enough time to process your payment and to arrange shipping, so we respectfully advise that the latest you should leave a booking for is first thing on the day we need to get the items you need shipped for next day delivery. It's essential that you can access the Internet and can be in phone contact while payment is processed.
