Just a little green

Edlingham Woods. "A bit of a problem with the canopy" reckons my forestry mate. There should be a lot more green in a wood like that!

Re: Just a little green

You've captured the subject well. Nice mood and feel of the forest.

Reminds me of playing in the fern in woods near our boarding school in Berkshire - wonderful summers of playing "survival", making dens, climbing trees, generally enjoying the outdoors - quite a change from my urban Essex upbringing!

David.

Re: Just a little green

Cheers guys. That bit of woodland is being thinned, but very slowly. There's one woodman allowed to take timber out and sell it, a nice efficient way to maintain woodland, but a bit slow.

Re: Just a little green

Very atmospheric, nice exposure on the contrasty light, well done.

Re: Just a little green

Danny,

Cheers. An 'upside down' grad and a polariser did the trick with a tiny bit of burn on a couple of the tree trunk edges.

Chevvyf1: This guys great, he does use machinery to get the timber out of the dense bits onto a clearing or the woodland edge, and then he has some basic 1960's machinery to make fence posts, those flattish bits you get when squaring the logs and chippings. The big stuff he keeps intact. Nothing is wasted. The machinery is ancient, I have no idea how it's still going. It just lies around the wood wherever he was last working. Last time I spoke with him his hands were pachydermic with oil/grease, he couldn't have washed them for years and years and there was a half bottle of whisky in the cab.

The tractor. It does still go.
