Bet the mouse didn't think so, Den! That Jupiter of yours is certainly sharp. Have just found one on ebay myself, hope I'm able to squeeze the same quality from it that you get from yours.

Re: cats again!

Mine's fungus-ridden so presumably, if yours is functioning, it'll be better! I like it best at f5.6-ish, bit of flash helps keep shutter speeds up at a reasonable rate... Looking forward to your pics!

Love the shot, please excuse my ignorance but could you tell me about this Jupiter lens I've not come across this one before. Also could you let us know how the shot was lit? it doesn't appear to be flash lit. The colours and detail are wonderful thanks for sharing with us.

Re: cats again!

Sure, Napper! The Jupiter 11A 135mm f4 is an old Russian M42-screwmount lens. Many of Jupiter's lenses were copies of Zeiss lenses - and I'm pretty sure this is one too. You can get M42-4/3 adapters off eBay, usually for under £15.

Anyway, it's a fantastically sharp lens which you can buy for practically nothing. Mine cost £0.99. Bit of fungus, but no regrets! It also has a million aperture blades so the aperture stops down in near perfect circles.

As for lighting, there was a flash involved but, rather than mounting it on my camera, I used a wireless flash trigger (a cheap £20 from Gadget Infinity on eBay). The papers the cat is next to are under a glass desk. All I did was put my flash under the desk, pointing upwards towards it and bounced the flash off the desk and the wall. The result was a relatively diffuse light that comes from the cat's right.

Hope this helps!
