Re: Industry in the landscape

Like you I can't decide which I prefer: I like the sun and the horizon from #1 and the fields from #2.

Re: How best to expose a sunset without a graduated filter?

#2 looks to have all the detail so your processing was spot on. I agree with others that, without any filters to hand, bracket and merge in post is the way to go.

Re: Hurst Castle moments

The long shot of the place (#1) is not that inspiring but it looks like the close up action (#2,#3, #4) more than makes up for it (especially with the ongoing commentry). Nice lighthouse/needles shot.

Re: April 2019 Challenge: Old Technology

Congratulations to Toby (Snerkler) on a very interesting shot. I'm ecstatic at getting a 3rd but it will probably go all wrong again in the next competition.

Re: Playing with PRO capture...

It is difficult, Walti. I don't have pro capture but I have tried with burst mode and had a similar lack of success. These things just fly too fast to freeze the action and my panning skills are...

Re: Butterflies with 12-200 and 40-150 (+1.4 tc) lenses

To my mind your bird shot highlights the lens detail far better than the butterfly shots and is seriously impressive. At close quarters the 75-300mm is (possibly) equally impresive but falls short...

The second one of the cuckoo is nice and I like the shot of the owl.

There is something rather pleasing wandering around a cemetry and you have captured that feeling. Nice.

Re: The Flying Scotsman comes through Derbyshire

No shame in having the people in the shot and it does give the scene some extra importance. Well framed. I have some shots of it up at the NRM but alas nothing steaming through the countryside.

London

Two views of St Pauls. The second one has been heavily processed to lighten the shadows and straighten the verticals, horizontals, and everything in between.

Re: Encounter with a Brown Hare

Seems to have done the trick whatever the settings. Nice shots. I did pass a field of hares whilst driving along the M40 last week but no chance of taking a picture or two even though I had my E-PM2...
