Re: Female Scorpion fly

Lovely capture.
I got a shot of one a couple of weeks ago near our local lake. Only had my 75-300 with me so that had to do. Nowhere near as good as yours, though.

Re: So, is the AF better with firmware 3?

Thanks Ross for the info and thoughts.

Sorry, I was using C-AF and single AF small size. It didn't happen all the time but it never seemed to happen before the update.

I'm not on Facebook so I...

Re: So, is the AF better with firmware 3?

I went out, using V3 for the first time, the other day. I was using my 75-300ii and found that it hunted in certain circumstances and It never seemed to before the update. Wondering if a setting...

Re: I do need to find time to take more pictures so...

I retired seven years ago (1 year early) and I've loved every single minute of it.

Yes, I missed the banter and different company for a while but, in the words of the Bee Gees, No Regrets.

Re: Computer screens

I use a Dell Ultrasharp 2818, can't fault it. As ajwh says, great performance, calibrated and great warranty.

Re: Blowing your own trumpet

B&W doesn't appeal to lots of people, especially as the vast majority of us see everything in colour.

If he isn't a photographer, he may have thought that you actually took the second picture in...

Re: Blowing your own trumpet

Just out of interest, did you offer the artist the original set of #1 - colour and #2 B&W or did you offer him the choice of Colour for both and B&W for both.

Just wondering why he chose #1 when...

Re: Blowing your own trumpet

I do suspect that he'd have chosen picture 2, though, if it had been in colour.

Re: Blowing your own trumpet

I like the second shot because it just seems more complete and as Zuiko says, it is a better composition. I just wish it was in colour.

Can you try us with the two pictures again, the first in B&W...

Re: A visit to Nairobi National Park

A vast wildlife park and so close to the city.

So good to see it has survived for so long (just 2 years older than me  ... and looking so much better :D :D).

Have a great trip here *yes

Re: v3 Firmware for mk2 - updates for mk2, m1x and lenses

M1ii update successfully with no problems, thanks to all the advice from here. Just need to go out and give it a whirl now, although threatened thunderstorms may just delay things :(.

Re: Wartime Bridgend

Ooohhh, I really couldn't say. It must be at least 50 years since I used it *yes. It still looks like new, even though the Agfa case it's in has a weld where the strap broke. :) *chr

Re: Wartime Bridgend

Nice captures with an authentic feel to them.

I still have the Agfa Isola1. The one where you slightly twist the front of the lens and it comes out on a tube.

Re: Honestly, do you like autofocus?

Horses for courses innit :)

If I had to use MF for nature pics, ie birds, I'd hardly get any decent shots.
For macro and things less likely to move I have allocated a button for MF which I often...
